Real de Banjul FC defeated Champions Hawks 2-1 in week eight of the GFF league division one Baluwo official partner and league Falcons recorded vital wins to occupy the top two while the games between Wallidan and Brikama United, as well as Marimoo Pakfood and PSV Wellingara all ended goalless on Wednesday.
The Whites took a two-goal lead through Alasan Camara’s stunning free kick, and Baboucarr Touray’s well-taken long-range effort after beautifully skipping past two Hawks players. The champions did get a goal back before halftime with Remi Mendy getting at the end of a Baboucarr Senghore cross.
The second half failed to produce a goal with both sides guilty of missing chances with Hawks later reduced to 10 men when Alieu B Manneh was sent off for a second bookable offense in the 85th minute. Real, with the win,extended their lead on the top of the table with three points.
Elsewhere, Falcons moved up to second position with a narrow 1-0 win over Team Rhino at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Yundum. Edward Ndicky scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute to send the Blue Army to second with 15 points.
Meanwhile, in the second division, BST Galaxy suffered their first defeat of the season as they succumbed to a 1-0 loss away to B4U Kiang West in Jarra Soma. Sarjo Jaiteh’s 32nd-minute strike proved the difference for the Kiang side.
