The regional magistrates court of the North Bank Region presided over by Principal Anna O. Mendy, last week convicted a woman found in possession of suspected cannabis sativa.
The convict, MattyNjai was caught with 70grams of suspected cannabis sativa in Farafenni on 16th August 2022 but she denied the charge.
After exculpatory evidence, the convict, Matty Njai was remorseful and pleaded for mercy from the court.
“I solely take care of my children through the profit I realised from my petty trading and alms of sympathizers,” she pleaded before she was finally sentenced to a fine of D50, 000 in default to serve a year jail term.
