Alieu Jobe, a native of Tujereng village who is vying as an independent candidate for Sanyang Ward Councilor said the exploitation of Gambia resources should come to an end.
In an interview with The Voice newspaper, he said “The Gambia River has been exploited by our neighboring countries which have greatly reduced the harvest of fish, creating low employment of women and youths in our community.
”The exploitation of the Gambia River has made me contest for the position of councilor of Sanyang Ward where I will reason with stakeholders in combating this growing problem in the country,” he stated.
He said he noticed that most of the people in the urban areas are faced with hunger and poor health centers which exposed most of them to untimely death, while the country is also experiencing a high rate of unemployment of youths coupled with little infrastructural development.
Meanwhile, he said Kombo South black sand mining has brought no visible development that can benefit the youths and the nation at large yet the government is still mining black sand in the Kombos. “Kombo South Communities has suffered high manipulation of sand miners who failed to develop the communities,” Jobe stressed.
