Awa Kujabi of Kotu Village on Tuesday testified how the accused, Haddy Laye stabbed her body in Kotu Police Station before principal magistrate Omar Jabang at Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
The accused Haddy Laye attempted to take my life by stabbing me with a knife at Kotu Police Station but I cried for help from the Police Officers on duty. They delivered me from her hands and I was later taken to Kanifing hospital where I was treated and discharged, PW1 exclaimed.
However, the accused Haddy Laye denied threatening Awa Kujabi at the said police station but she alleged that the Pw1, Awa Kujabi first threatened to kill her in Kotu Police Station where she tied her neck with a veil which resulted in a fight.
”I was seriously wounded by the accused, Haddy Laye on my body which resulted in serious bleeding but I escaped from her harmful threat,” PW1 exclaimed.
The police prosecution Sub-Inspector Lang M. Barrow at this juncture pleaded for the court to admit a knife and the clothes of PW1 as an exhibit
.
Magistrate Omar Jabang granted his plea and admitted the knife as Exhibit A, the clothes as exhibit B and the vial of PW1 as exhibit C before adjourning the matter to 15th March 2023 for continuation.
Meanwhile, the accused Haddy Laye and Awa Kujabi were convicted of affray with a fine of D5000 which they paid but they are all standing a charge of unlawful arms.
