University of the Gambia on Monday has admitted over five hundred intakes admitted in various schools of the University, in a ceremony held at Kanifing UTG premises.
The school of law and school of medicine didn’t enroll any student for this Semester, Professor Herbert Robinson, Vice chancellor of the University noted that the new intakes who are admitted at university have every right to be part of what he called milestone achievement.
According to him, the school is more than two decades old and it has been delivering productive and responsible products noting that the school will introduce new courses to meet the demand of The Gambia and sub region at-large and provide professional lectures.
Vice Chancellor Herbert also gave assurance to the students that their doors will be always open to find solution to their challenges of the students and therefore
Urged on the students to be responsible and avoid any malpractice.
Kemo Fatty, President of student union executive council UTGSU, said University served as a finding solution to society problems, and also established as profound contribution to national development
He welcomed the new intakes and urged them to make best use of the time and make friends for the betterment and advancement of all.
On his part, MomodouLaminTarro, Registrar University of The Gambia said the main aim of the orientation is to equip new students with the fundamental principles, norms and values of the University.
He added that it is important for the students to know the core values of the learning institution. “As students always abide by the rules and regulations of the school at all times and be committed and justify the reasons why you are admitted.”
He called on students to maintain proper dress code, be disciplined, and make best positive use of social media in a way that it will add value to their lives.
