Modou Lamin Age-Almusaf Sowe an award-winning author has launched his new book titled “The Throne of The Ghost,” the launch of the book took place at the Pencha Mi Hall, Senegambia.
The book is rated to have qualities of good education, the book symbolizes power, authority, and control.
In reviewing the book, Hassoum Ceesay, Director of the National Centre for Arts and Culture dilated on the title of the book saying the Throne symbolizes power, authority, and control.
Moving forward, he said the author is a budding writer and literary activist. His poems, short stories, and essays have been published in book form and newspaper columns, and literary journals. He has gone through prestigious writing residencies such as Ebedi in Nigeria.
According to him, the writer founded a national storytelling contest, this book shows all these qualities and the book is a play, a drama divided into 22 scenes. There are 20 odd characters, some major, and many minors.
He said from the onset of the book the story is about Royalty, death, mortality, and power. In a good book review, “we are expected to only adumbrate the contours of the book or story but not to relate the story. What the radio presenters do with their press reviews of the dailies and we do with a book review,” he said.
However, the main character is Burr, Saliman. A potentate foretells his demise and the art of the fall of his empire. ‘My kingdom is feared all over the world as a result of its strong men and rich culture, but the big tree firmly holding these fruits in and with only two ripe fruits on it is about to lose its roots’ he said
Musa Mbaye, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Youth and Sports who represented the Minister of Youths and Sports thanked the author and editors of the book for an impressive collection of knowledge and strategies around.
He said our culture and identity as they stand today, the book is indeed an initiative of the highest standards, which highlights the numerous challenges to the realization, universality, and development of humanity, and offers rigorous analysis and arguments to counter skepticism about a man and his struggles.
According to him, in a faithful implementation of the legacy of Mr. Sowe, who so eloquently advocated the visibility and interconnection of all Gambians, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been supporting him economically, socially, and culturally with equal importance as a youth and national asset.
However, in 2022, he narrated, when he was launching Don’t Judge The Book By The Cover, the Ministry did not hesitate in supporting his whole budget because of the way and manner he approached the Ministry and the value his program has in the country.
