Defense Counsel Cross-examines PW5 in Alleged Robbery case

Defense Lawyer M. Ceesay has on Thursday at the Kanifing High Court presided over by Justice Isatou Janneh cross-examined the prosecution witness five, Basiru Y Darboe in the alleged robbery involving Alagie Corr.

In defense counsel M. Ceesay’s cross-examination, the witness Basiru Y Darboe said he has twelve years of experience as a police officer and that he is a general duty officer, not a CID.

He also told the court that when the accused was brought to the station, he conducted a search on him when the people who brought the matter to the station narrated the story, and the search was conducted in front of his colleagues and the people who brought him.

The witness statement was shown to the witness and he confirmed it to be the statement written and signed by him, the defense lawyer applied to tender the statement dated 21st September 2022 as an exhibit and it was not objected to by state counsel Alieu A Marong, Justice Isatou Janneh admitted the statement as a defense exhibit.

Alieu A. Marong applied for the witness to be discharged and was not objected to by the defense and the witness was discharged by the court.

According to the particulars of his offense Alagie Corr on about the 21st of September, 2022 at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipality, attacked and stabbed Mamadou Salieu Jallow with a broken bottle and forcefully took away his mobile phone mark Pop 4 valued at D7500, a bag containing D2000, sachets of milk and coffee valued at D3000, and two vacuum flasks valued at D2000.
