Gambia’s representative at the CAF Pan African School football championship in South Africa ScanAid girls came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against hosts Edendale Technical High School in their opening match on Wednesday.
The hosts took a 1-0 half-time lead but Gambia’s Kaddy Camara restored parity in the second half for a share of the spoils.
Meanwhile, the Gambians will qualify for the semifinals if they can avoid a heavy defeat against the high-flying Fountain Gate School of Tanzania who hammered Edendale 7-1 in the first match of the day.
Scan Aid will face off with Fountain Gate School in the final group game tomorrow at 8:30 am.
In the same development, Young Gambian referee, Muhammad Sanneh, was selected by CAF as one of the referees to officiate at the inaugural Pan Africa Football Cup in Durban, South Africa.
Muhammed also officiated at the regional WAFU A qualifiers in Cape Verde and following his exceptional performance there, he’s now been assigned by the continental football governing body for the final phase of the competition. Sanneh is a student at Charles Jow Memorial Academy in Bundungka Kunda
Gambia’s Muhammad Sanneh was in charge of the game between Benin and Malawi in the ongoing CAF Pan-African U15 Schools Football tournament in Durban, South Africa. Sanneh was the fourth official in the earlier game between Benin and Morocco.
