Chinese second-tier side Guangxi Pingguo Beinong Football Club has completed signing Gambian international Ola Buwaro from Gambian club Red Scorpions.
Buwaro, who represented the country at every youth level from the U-17 to the U-20, made the breakthrough to the senior ranks in recent years. She has since developed into a key Coach Mariama Sowe squad member.
Known for her devastating pace, trickery, and goalscoring abilities, Ola Buwaro deputized in captaining her country to the bronze medal in the WAFU Zone A Women’s Cup of Nations in Cape Verde earlier this year, scoring a brace in the third and fourth place playoffs against Guinea Bissau.
“The 21-year-old Ola, a former sprinter, joined her new teammates [in China] on Sunday as they prepare for the 2023 Chinese women’s second division league season,” Red Scorpions said in a statement today.
“Ola helped Red Scorpions clinch 2022/23 GFF women’s first division league unbeaten and in the process, scored 10 goals, the highest for the club.”
Ola Buwaro joined a growing list of Gambian women players signing professional contracts recently.
