The 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup draw has been held, and The Gambia is in Group F alongside France, South Korea, and Honduras.
The Young Scorpions are making their second appearance at the global showpiece event that will get underway in Argentina next month. This year’s edition will see 24 teams competing again in the group stages with the top two in each group and four of the third-place finishers making it into the round of 16.
In Gambia’s last appearance in the competition in Canada in 2007, it finished in the last 16 stages. The Gambia also qualified for the 2021 edition, initially scheduled for Indonesia, but the competition was canceled due to the devastating effects of the Covid19 pandemic.
Coach Abdoulie Bojang and the team have begun preparations with regular training at the home of Gambian football, the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum.
