During the National stakeholders and donor roundtable meeting on the implementation of the recommendations of the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC), held last week in Banjul, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray hailed The Gambia Government’s demonstrable commitment to peace and in particular to the implementation of the TRRC report.
The ECOWAS Commission President emphasized the need for peace in The Gambia and in all ECOWAS Member States, citing it as a recipe for regional stability and economic integration.
His Excellency President Adama Barrow presided over the opening of the donor roundtable, in which he affirmed his government’s strong drive and will to implement the TRRC recommendations and in particular the reparation process. The European Union (EU)is committing to a nine-million-Dollar project towards the implementation process, to be executed by UNDP and Gambia Government.
H.E. Adama Barrow was joined at the event by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, and other members of the Gambian Government – ministers and senior officials – and development partners in The Gambia.
