A popular United Democratic Party (UDP) diehard supporter and native of Sintet village in Foni Jarrol district West Coast Region known as a cyclist politician that always dresses in yellow colour, a symbol of the party, has urged electorates in the country to vote for the UDP’s well-informed and visionary aspirants mayor and chairperson in due Saturday’s local Government elections.
Bakary Cham, the famous cyclist politician, made this comment during an exclusive interview with this medium on Monday in his Lamin residence in Kombo North District.
According to Cham, these Mayor and Chairperson election is geared to ensure development in our various municipalities and regions throughout the country.
He appealed to electorates in the country to remain calm, irrespective of their political affiliations, and vote wisely, adding that if UDP Mayors and Chairpersons were elected into office, no single electorate will regret casting their vote for them.
“Gambia is currently in dire need of well-informed and visionary Mayors and Chairperson. All these UDP candidates are committed, educated, patriotic, and have the interest of the country at heart, unlike other politicians who are only interested to be loyal to their party leader,” he explained.
According to him, UDP candidates are the favorable ones who can turn the Gambia’s economy around citing uncountable developments undertaken by his party’s incumbent Mayoress and Chairperson in Banjul, Kanifing, Mansa-Konko, Basse, and Kerewan for the past years.
He lamented the serious insecurity, economic hardship, and other pressing issues in the country which according to him (Cham), President Adama Barrow and his cabinet members totally failed to address.
He urged Gambian electorates to disown greedy parties, insensitive and corrupt politicians, and their sympathizers whose aims are to destroy this country based on their personal and political interests.
“If you elect UDP’s Mayoress and Chairperson in office, means you want rapid development to reach the door-steps of your Municipalities and regions,” Cham stated.
According to Cham, Gambians need Mayors and Chairpersons that will make sure peace and unity prevail within their municipalities and regions, than someone who will use taxpayers’ money for political campaigns.
