Chelsea have been building a team of youth talents in the last year, and they look to have come across another gem they’re very keen on.
We had previously reported on interest in Gambia striker Adama Bojang after his impressive performances in the AFCON U20 tournament, but he’s taken things to the next level now after scoring twice in the next competition up – the U20 World Cup taking part in Argentina.
The Daily Mail report that we’re front of the queue to sign the 18 year old, who lashed in two against Honduras last night to earn his team a 2-1 win.
The tall striker is known as the “Gambian Hurricane” because of his all action style, which was in evidence last night as he led from the front. He plays for a team called Steve Biko FC in his native country, who are presumably about to get the kind of money that could change their fortunes forever.
The good news is that the teams we’re competing with are Sporting Lisbon, Inter Milan and RB Salzburg, three sides who generally buy very smart when it comes to younger players.
His work permit would mean he needs to be loaned out for some time, but that’s all part of the project.
There are already a host of Chelsea players taking part in the U20 tournament, and this just gives us another name to watch out for.
