Senegalese forward Sadio Mane has shared his excitement after Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga on the final day of the season.
On a dramatic day in the German league, Bayern needed a win against Koln with the hope that Borussia Dortmund slipped at home to Mainz.
Having taken the lead through Kingsley Coman, the Bavarians were pegged back with nine minutes remaining after Dejan Ljubicic levelled for the hosts from the spot.
With Dortmund losing 2-1 in the other game, the Black and Yellows were set to be crowned champions.
However, their dreams were dashed after Jamal Musiala netted a late winner for Bayern Munich, as reported by the BBC.
Mane, who has struggled in recent times, took to social media to share his delight and hopes to return next season in good form.
“What a season!! But Alhamdoulilah. Time to go rest and come back stronger,” wrote the African Player of the Year on Twitter.
Meanwhile, his future in Germany remains in doubt after reports emerged that he will be sold at the end of the campaign.
Mane joined Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window from Liverpool.
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Borussia Dortmund gave the Bundesliga title to hated rivals Bayern Munich on a shocking final day in the Germany’s topflight, a stunning collapse that left a ready-to-party Westfalenstadion in mourners’ status.
Bayern took an early lead through Kingsley Coman at Koln and Dortmund went down 2-0 in the first half versus Mainz, missing a penalty that would’ve tied the score at 1.
Dortmund entered the day with the table lead and dominated Mainz to the tune of 26-7 in shots and 3.64-0.62 in expected goals, but Andreas Hanche-Olsen and Karim Onisiwo’s goals were enough as only Giovanni Reyna’s set-up of Raphael Guerreiro got Dortmund on the board in a 2-1 loss.
