Saidou Sowe, a narcotic Officer attached to Brusubi Police Station on Thursday testified in the ongoing drug case involving four accused before Magistrate Fatou Darboe of Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
PW1, Saidou Sowe testified that a team of narcotics officers on the 10th February 2023 raided Kamosor Village in Foni, West Coast Region where Ebrima Sanyang, Seriffoe Sanyang, Ousman Sanneh, Amadou Badjie, and Ebrima Badjie were allegedly suspected of having nine bags of cannabis and ninety-four (94) bundles of cannabis plants in the house of the 1st accused, Ebrima Sanyang.
Sowe disclosed to the court that the four accused were arrested on that fateful day and taken to Banjulinding Anti-Crime Center for further investigation.
However, counsel K. Jarju for the 1, 2, and 3rd accused challenged the truthfulness of PW 1 and emphasized on the original witness statement.
“If your team arrived at the village of the accused persons at 9:00 am, why was it stated on the particulars of the offence that your team arrived at the scene of the crime from 5:00 am onwards?”
Counsel K. Jarju at this juncture applied for PW1’s original statement to be admitted and marked as exhibit and it was granted and marked as exhibit SS1.
The matter was adjourned to 15th June 2023 at 10:30 for continuation.
Meanwhile, the particulars of offence filed by DLEAG prosecutor revealed that Ebrima Sanyang, Seriffoe Sanyang, Ousman Sanneh, Amadou Badjie, and Ebrima Badjie on the 10th February 2023 at Kamosor Village and its diverse places in West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia had in their possession 55kg and 700grams cannabis sativa plants a prohibited drug.
