Fire outbreak ravages 9 Shops in Brikama

A Fire Outbreak that occurred in Brikama last Sunday ravaged nine shops opposite the National Revenue Office in Brikama.

The sad incident which occurred around 3:00 am onwards left business owners doubtful over what has left of them.

The ravaged places include tailoring, stationary, general merchandise, toiletries shops, and among others.

Speaking at the scene of the inferno, Babucarr Jobe, one of the victims in his dismay said he newly bought items to sell to his customers for the coming ”Tobaski” but unfortunately the fire outbreak had burnt everything into ashes. 

“I did not know the cause of the fire outbreak because I was not around during the incident, and I cannot quantify the amount of money I spent on the material that burnt into ashes”, he wept profusely.

Another victim, Mariama Bojang, who owns a stationery shop said all her stationeries including printer and photocopier machines, and computers, among others burnt. 

The Regional Disaster Coordinator, Momodou B K Ceesay said “This is the third fire incident that will affect stores and business owners this year in Brikama. There is a need for proper electric wiring to avoid such incidents in the future.” 

However, individuals, philanthropists, NGOs, and the government are calling to support the victims to allow them back to business.
