The Gambia president has revealed his intention to contest in the 2026 presidential election.
His Excellency President Adama Barrow declared himself bona fide to contest in the 2026 presidential election on Sunday, 11th June 2023 during a meeting held at Sami in Central River Region (CRR).
President Barrow said anyone who wants to contest for the 2026 presidential elections needs to be prepared for him because what he is going to do in 2026 will be worse than that of the 2021 presidential election.
“I heard now that what they used to tell people in their houses are that President Barrow is coming to resign they are coming to get the government these are the things they are telling people. Tell them to be calm and be more patient because President Barrow is here, I am not going I am here,” Barrow told his supporters in Sami.
He added that politics is over and he is no more campaigning, saying he is grateful for two things that God has blessed him with that he will not forget for the rest of his life.
“The first thing is, we have a president here who everyone thinks no one was capable of removing from this country, and God gave me power within three months I removed him from the country, until my death I will never forget that.
“Wherever Gambia`s history is written that will be written there, even my grandchildren will read that history, and no one can take that from me is God who blessed me for that,” he said.
President Barrow stressed that when he became the president people who claimed that they are the ones who make him the president, God decided to be the judge between him and those people, adding God bring separation between him and them and they decided that they will remove him from power because they were the ones who put him in power.
