Hagie Huley Camara, a National People’s Party (NPP) Chairman in Alnuharry has questioned President Adama Barrow over his previous promise on the reduction to make on the high cost of living in the country while delivering a message from an old man in his village to the president.

Chairman Camara made this statement during President Barrow’s meeting held in Numuyel village last weekend.

“What is difficult right now is the foods that are grown in The Gambia bag of coos right now cost D3,200 and if you want it to be transported to your home is D3,300,” he stated and asked “Between you and God is that normal. Let us fear Allah, four Okra fruit is D20, a pepper cost D5, I swear to Allah one of a particular species – big ones each cost D700,” he stressed.

Camara, therefore, urged the people to stop feeding the president with sweet words and information instead they should tell him about the difficulties Gambians are facing.

Also, he added that in 2022 they discussed in Mankamang Kunda the issue of a hike of basic commodities and today the president is proud of reducing the price of imported rice and cooking oil among other imported basic foods.

Meanwhile, he said there is one old man in Gambissara who sent him to President Adama Barrow two weeks ago, and the message was if the president is given a position he should be able to fulfill his mandate, adding Tobaski is here and sheep is costing D30,000 but it is not the fault of President Adama Barrow.
