Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Speaker of the National Assembly of The Gambia recently joined over seventy (70) Speakers of Parliaments, MPs, Civil Society, and Faith-based organizations at the median edition of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, currently underway in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco.
The conference brought together Speakers and Members of Parliament, religious leaders, representatives of civil society, and other experts to engage in dialogue and share good practices around key issues standing in the way of sustainable co-existence and to jointly explore action points for building more peaceful and inclusive societies. It also aims to develop a roadmap for joint action ahead.
The Conference jointly organized by the IPU and the Moroccan Parliament seeks to take previous work on interfaith dialogue one step further, framing this dialogue as essential not only to peace and inclusion but as part of a collective approach necessary for saving our planet.
It further provides an opportunity for political and religious leaders, international experts, and organizations to share good practices and take stock of the various initiatives which aim, in a holistic manner, to address some of the major threats confronting the world.
