Two nights’ worth of rain in parts of the Central River Region has left in its wake some destruction to property, the regional disaster coordinator told The Voice last evening.
Seasonal rains have apparently begun in parts of the country on Wednesday as URR also received its first rainfall this week with reports of rain-induced destruction in the region as well.
According reports, the epicentre of the destruction in the CRR was in Lower Saloum, where Jimbala and four other communities were affected by the downpours.
“So far, we have sent some of our volunteers to get first-hand information,” regional disaster management coordinator Lamin Fatty explained to this medium.
He revealed that 20 affected households have already been assessed but could not paint the full extent of the destruction.
