Real de Banjul leads GFF First Division Table with 51 points

Real de Banjul Football Club, defeated Banjul United in the Gambia Football Federation  First Division League #Baluwo official Partner2-0 to go on top of the league table while Fortune, Greater Tomorrow, Gamtel, and Waa Banjul all recorded vital victories to effect massive changes on the standings.

With this win, Real de Banjul is now on 51 points two adrift of former leaders Falcons FC. It was a brace from midfielder and U20 Mestro Salifu Colley that ensured the massive win for the Whites with a game to go and with a staggering goals difference of +17.

Elsewhere, relegation-threatened Greater Tomorrow hit a major blow to the title ambitions of Falcons with a 1-0 defeat. Informed Abdoulie Baldeh scored his 13th goal of the season with a 42nd-minute strike to earn a major booster going to the final game of the season.

 The result means Falcons dropped to second position with 49 points while Greater Tomorrow moved out of the relegation zone on 32 points ahead of their showdown against Hawks, who are two points behind.

Meanwhile, Fortune is assured of at least a 3rd place finish with a 1-0 win over Hawks FC in Brikama, with Ousainou Sanneh’s own goal in the 60th minute.

Falcons, however, are still in contention for the race when matches go down to the final week.

Jerreh Sanyang and Omar Joof’ netted for Gamtel to earn their first win in their last five matches, with a 2-0 victory over Marimoo Pakfood in Bakau.

In Banjul, Ousainou Touray converted a 10th-minute penalty for Waa Banjul to beat Steve Biko 1-0 at the Banjul Mini Stadium, the results of which now mean that Gamtel and Hawks are leveled on 31 points each while Waa Banjul and Greater Tomorrow both sit on 34 points as the relegation battle goes to the wire with all four teams in danger of joining PSV Wellingara in the second tier for next season.
