The West Coast Region Football Association (WCRFA) third Division League final between Tujereng United and Busumbala Sanjonding has been rescheduled after failing to produce an outright winner in Brikama.
The well-attended final at the Box Bar Mini Stadium was attended by the GFF President Mr Lamin Kaba Bajo. Busumbala took them in the 19th minute after when Tujereng goalkeeper Saraney Jammeh spilled a shot for Abubacarr Sanneh to fire home the rebound leading to the break.
Tujereng resumed the second half with a fresh start and in the 77th minute, Ebrima Marena swept home from a beautiful set piece to equal the scoring 1-1.
Lamin Chatty, the Busumbala coach who was booked earlier was the sendoff central referee.
Following the two sides’ failure to produce a win the
West Coast Region Football Association agreed to replay were contested final to a later date to determine the winner that will represent the region at the Triangular phase for the second-tier men’s competition of the National League.
The West Coast Region Third Division accumulated 24 Teams of two groups. Registration was free to all the participating team’s thanks to the support from the Gambia Football Federation.
The final also saw the regional female team that represented the region at the National Youth Conference and Festival (NayConf) being awarded a certificate of appreciation for their outstanding performance in the biennial competition. The final was graced by WCRFA President Bakary Bojang and executive committee members of the WCRFA, GFF Finance Director Mr. Kemo Ceesay, and a section of local dignitaries and fans across the West Coast Region and beyond
