Sanna Fadera denies promising intelligent officer rank

Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera as he continued in his testimony on Monday 19th June 2023 before Justice Basiru VP Mahoney of Banjul High Court denied promising an intelligent officer of giving him the rank of the head of intelligence if he dethroned the government of Adama Barrow.

Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera at his defense with his counsel Lamin S. Camara also denied having any conversation with anyone regarding the alleged coup plot against Adama Barrow’s government.

He disclosed that he did not commit treason, concealment, and mutiny against the Republic of The Gambia.

Mr Fadera affirmed that he did not plan with anyone during his military career to overthrow the government of the Gambia nor did he inform anyone of the alleged weapons for the alleged coup plot of December 2022.

However, during the re-examination with the State Counsel M. B. Sowe, Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera uncovered one Africell registered Sim Card belonging to someone called Lamin but the accused, Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera said it was the property of his Wife.

The State counsel M.B. Sowe alleged that it belongs to the 5th accused Sub-Inspector Fabakary Jawara as recorded on exhibit P9 on the 18th December 2022 call list.

The State Counsel M.B. Sowe also traced the accused (Sanna Fadera) journey route to the parts of Kombo and asked if the accused communicated with the 5th accused, Fabakary Jawara, and he (Sanna Fadera) responded in the affirmative. 

Counsel M. B. Sowe said the accused also called one Qcell registered Sim Card which he also alleged belonged to the 2nd accused Gibril Darboe. 

But Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera denied memorizing the numbers of Sub-Inspector Fabakary Jawara and Gibril Darboe.

The State Counsel M. B. Sowe also uncovered Lance Corporal Fadera’s exile in Senegal in 2016 after the coronation of the Barrow government and it was confirmed by the accused to be true following his resentment in the GAF but the accused, Sanna Fadera denied his celebration of such resentment. 

Meanwhile, according to Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera he applied for a Cadet promotion after completing his degree at the University of the Gambia and he did not receive any feedback after applying for two years at the Gambia Army Force.
