Action Aid International-The Gambia, Juffureh Office LRP 9 of Upper Nuimi organized the Youths Convergence 2023 marathon for potential and irregular youths on the slogan Irregular Migration a Global Concern Increase Youths Empowerment.
The Programme was meant to advocate for investment in youths to stop Irregular migration and the event attracted youths within Eco Zones level and was held in Juffureh of North Bank Region.
Saikou Darboe, Programme Manager described the forum as key in creating space for youths to discuss ways and means of addressing irregular migration and encourage youths to take up opportunities to explore their potential.
He urged the government and stakeholders to mobilize resources to invest in youths’ development in job creation and skills.
Commenting on the marathon for boys and girls, LRP 9 Manager Darboe said the sports aimed to foster collaboration and understanding and above all create fun.
Ousainou Jallow, District Sports Committee Member commended Action Aid International Juffureh office for organizing adding that complementing sporting activities in Upper Nuimi will help.
Jainaba J Gomez student from Albreda Upper Basic School emerged as the winner of the girls’ category and Ebrima Seyof Kerr Alpha was the winner of the boys’ category and won a prize of D2000 each, consolation prizes of D500 were given to each 3rd to 10th position. The event was punctuated with a fun fair and also provides an opportunity for youths to interact and build friendships.
