When defence counsel A Jurju challenged the testimony of PW1, Saidou Sowe following his inquiry on the number of alleged bags of cannabis DLEAG officers found at the scene of the crime, Saidou Sowe stumbled saying the total number of alleged bags of cannabis was nine.

However, on exhibit SS2 the total number of alleged cannabis bags that were found at the scene of the crime were a total of twenty-one (21) bags of cannabis.

But PW1, Saidou Sowe, denied the miscalculation of the sum of the alleged bags of cannabis saying, “I wrote my statement before writing the report of exhibit SS2 that was done after the investigation of DLEAG Officers.“

The defence counsel accused Saidou Sowe of writing the report of exhibit SS2 a day before he write his statement but Sowedenied saying it was a typographical error.

The witness affirmed to the court that he cannot ascertain the owners of the alleged cannabis bags, noting that the bags of the suspected drugs were not labeled.

The DLEAG prosecutor, Sanna Camara at this juncture applied for an adjournment discharge of the witness from the dock.

Magistrate F Darboe granted his application and adjourned the matter to the 19th of July 2023 for continuation.

Meanwhile, the particulars of offence of the case revealed that Ebrima Sanyang, Seriffoe Sanyang, Ousman Sanneh, AmadouBadjie, and Ebrima Badjie on the 10th February 2023 at Kamosor Village and its diverse places in West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia had in their possession 55kg and 700grams cannabis sativa plants, a prohibited drug.
