Mambayick Sonko, head of the Farafenni sub-Treasury under the Kerewan Area Council has emphasized the importance council attached to the collection of waste daily to improve health and sanitation.
He was speaking to The Voice in Farafenni on Monday, during the massive collection of waste after Eid-al Adha prayer.
He said daily collection of waste at the central market and other strategic locations is key to council efforts to promote a healthy environment.
Sonko calls on the inhabitants of Farafenni to use designated dumpsites for disposal and treatment and desist from indiscriminate waste disposal.
He calls on stakeholders, development partners, and those in the Diaspora to support the council in strengthening its capacity for waste collection and disposal and assured of council commitment, adding that the move is part of promoting council commitment to promote sanitation.
