By Yunus S Saliu

In its quest to enhance the capacity of Sports Administrators nationwide, and to help improve the administrative approach to sports development in The Gambia, the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), on Monday kicked start a weeklong Sports Administration Course for the female coaches of the National Sports Associations at the GNOC Resource Center, Bertil Harding Highway, Mile 7, Bakau.

The primary objective of this course is to help improve the administrative approach to sports development in The Gambia to ensure sports leaders strive for effective management.

Welcoming the participants to the training, Ms Beatrice Allen, the Honorary IOC Member and President of the GNOC said the weeklong course is exclusively meant for female coaches of the National Sports Association by the Gambia National Olympic Committee.

“This course is designed to equip National Sports Associations to strengthen their administrative approach, structures, and skills in the administration and management of their sport,” she echoed.

She, therefore, thanked the course directors, Messrs LaminSanneh and Ebou Joof who have always made themselves available whenever their services are needed, saying they are both dedicated to the course of duty and have more than 25 years of experience.

She assured that at the end of the course, participants will gain more skills to better manage their Sports and the athletes under their charge, also know more about the Olympic Movement, and better understand how it operates.

She as well urged participants to take the course seriously as it incorporates all the skills required for NOC stakeholders – athletes, Coaches, and Managers.
