The West African Examination Council (WAEC), Monday held a daylong forum to brief the heads of teachers and principals on the conduct of the National Assessment Test (NAT) 2023, which is scheduled for the 13th and 14th of July 2023 for both Grade 3 and 8.
The briefing which brought together the head of teachers and principal of Lower and Upper Basic Schools together was held at the WAEC Headquarters in Banjul.
Speaking to the head of schools, Alagie Jallow, Head of National Office highlighted the significance of NAT for grades 3 and grade 8.
He went on advised the head teachers who serve as supervisors to this national assessment to use a high sense of professionalism in the conduct of this assessment. Adding that, about 1000 schools are to participate in this exercise while urging them to follow all the required measures to register success.
Babaucarr Sawaneh, Head of Administration NAT informed them to use all the instruments developed for the successful conduct of NAT.
He, therefore, advised the inspectors and supervisors to arrive at their schools on time to avoid delays for these assessments.
Speaking on behalf of the Regional Director of Region One, Alagie Jallow, Principal Education Officer (PEO) for region one welcomed the head teachers to this briefing and applauded them for coming in large numbers irrespective of late invitation.
He requested head teachers to ensure no examination malpractice is observed during this process while adding that NAT contributes immensely to the payment of School Improvement Grants ( SIG) by the stakeholders.
