Principal Magistrate Omar Jabang of Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday informed alleged accused of the Bakau attackers that are not coming to the court that their bail might be revoked.
The Principal Magistrate sent this warning signal to them based on the former bench warrant issued to twenty-three accused who were absent from court without any reason.
Meanwhile, Dodou Kasa Jatta and co were granted a bail of D250,000 with two Gambian sureties before their habitual absence at the court proceedings, causing great setbacks in the matter of seven counts of conspiracy with riot.
Defence Counsel K Camara again pleaded to the court to adjourn the matter following the absence of two accused persons, saying that the 15th accused, Lamin Jammeh lost his loved one while the 7th accused Lamin Samura was in Police custody.
Police prosecutor Sub-nspector Cherno Jallow raised and objection, saying the prosecutions were ready to proceed after he thought it wise to mourn with the 15th accused, Lamin Jammeh who had lost a loved one.
However, magistrate Jabang said based on the 15th accused’s (LaminJammeh) reason, he shall adjourn the matter for hearing, he, therefore, ordered the accused present to appear in the next adjourned date or else he shall revoke their bail for a speedy and fair trial.
Meanwhile, according to the charge sheet filed by the office of the IGP ,Dodou Kasa Jatta , Amadou Faye , Modou J. Jallow , Amadou Jallow , Mahammed Jallow , Salihena Conteh , Sory Camara , Lamin Samura , Pa Lamin Janneh ,Alieu Sainey Sanyang ,Pa Modou Jatta ,Lamin Saho , LaminJammeh, Muhammed Faal , Lamin Saho , Momodou Gassama , Alpha Camara , Lamin Sillah , Mass Susso , Omar Camara , Modou Salieu Jallow,Baba Sarr ,Ousman Ceesay ,Ebrima Daffeh , Ebrima Mboob ,Alieu Jallow , Mam Ngorr Ceesay , Muhammed Davies , Pa Ali Jammeh and Adala Ndow on the 1st December 2022 at Bakau in the Kanifing municipality conspired amongst themselves to commit felony with rioting and they were charged with seven counts of conspiracy and felony.
