In defence of the Constitution of the Gambia, the United Democratic Party (UDP) has filed a suit at the Supreme Court of The Gambia pursuant to section 5 of the Constitution against ten appointees of President Adama Barrow.
According to the statement made available on Wednesday by Mr. Tombong Saidy, Senior Administrative Secretary for Media and Communications of UDP said in their “bid to abate the continuous contravention of the constitution and other laws in The Gambia the United Democratic Party and Mr. EbrimaDibba, Deputy National Organising Secretary have today (Wednesday) filed in the Supreme Court suits against Mr. Dembo Bojang, Mr. Lamin Cham, Mr. Henry Gomez, Mr. Dodou Sanno Aka Dou Sanno, Mr. Sulayman Camara, and Mr. Lamin K. Saidy.
“All purported advisers to President Adama Barrow challenging the constitutionality of their appointments as such advisers. Both Ebrima Dibba and United Democratic Party believe that the appointments of these individuals contravene Section 170 of the constitution,” the statement pointed out.
In the same development, Honourable Madi K. Ceesay, National Assembly Member for Serrekunda West Constituency, Deputy Minority Leader and member of the National Assembly Committee on Foreign Relations and the United Democratic Party have also on Wednesday filed suits against; Mrs. Fatoumata Jahumpa – Ceesay, Mr. Sheikh Tijan Hydara, Mr. Ousman Jatta – AKA Rambo Jatta and Mr. LaminBojang AKA Lamin Satou Bojang challenging the constitutionality of their appointments in the Foreign and Diplomatic Services of The Gambia.
