A new chief, Alhajie Mustapha Dibba of Farafenni has been appointed to take charge of traditional and customary administration of the people of Upper Badibou.
The seat becomes vacant following the retirement of the late Ebrima Ansu Tamba Jammeh. Alhaji Mustapha Dibba is an indigenous citizen of Farafenni and according to family members, they described the appointment as timely and important added more honor to the family, and thanked President Adama Barrow for the trust and confidence.
Mr. Dibba’s appointment was confirmed to The Voice by Governor Lamin Saidykhan while the newly appointed chief said it is in line to fill the vacant position of late Chief EbrimaAnsu Tamba Jammeh who ruled Upper Badibou for 14 years, He was very interactive and promoted good leadership style in fostering social cohesion.
Chairman of Kerewan Area Council, Papa Tunkara, described him as hardworking and committed to the development of Farafenni and Upper Badibou. He has been very proactive in community engagement within upper Baddibou in advancing government development objectives
However, Chief Alhaji Mustapha Dibba of Upper Badibouworked as a teacher and also at Farafenni General Hospital as a PRO for 4 years and retired voluntarily as Custom Officer.
Chief Dibba pledged support to the dispensation of traditional administration. While thanking President Adama Barrow for the trust and confidence he has in him.
He, therefore, thanked the people of Farafenni and Upper Badibou for their solidarity and demonstration of ownership, saying his appointment was welcomed by different political parties and ethnicities in Farafenni and Upper Badibou.
Governor Lamin Saidykhan of NBR said the appointment was done by President Adama Barrow and called on the new chief to promote reconciliation, unity, and oneness among the people of Upper Badibou.
Governor Saidykhan urged the new chief to operate his duties irrespective of political and religious differences.
Sainey Dibba a family member thanked President AdamaBarrow for the appointment of the new chief and cited that the new chief over the years promote social cohesion and reconciliation.
Chief Fabala Fadia Kinteh of Lower Badibou implored the new chief to operate within the confine of local administration and be God-fearing.
Ansumana Kintehm, Regional Police Commissioner assured of security support and cooperation in the execution of duties and functions to consolidate peace and stability.
