Lamin M. Jassey, General Secretary of Gambia Football Federation has stressed that GFF will not relent in its efforts to attain success and will continue to support the activities in the zonal union, as an important partner.
He made the statement at the closing ceremony of the CAF West Africa Football Union (Wafu) Zone A Ordinary General Assembly Banjul on Sunday at the African Princess Hotel, Kololi.
Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, President of GFF who also doubles as President of WAFU Zone A, recognized the efforts of the founding fathers and past leaderships of the Union while he commended the member countries that took up the responsibility to host Wafu competitions with all its challenges.
He described the Zone as the best bloc in terms of competitions and the successes it registered over the years namely; the qualifications and schools of football within the sub-region.
“We will continue to collaborate with governments and the CAF leadership as the parent body to follow the regulations and cooperate to implement more successful projects,” he noted
The Assembly challenged Governments to work very hard to ensure the availability of football facilities and make the boys and girls the grounds to pursue their dreams.
Mr. Bajo said that The Gambia government is very much excited to have this blessing and is looking forward to working closely with CAF and all stakeholders towards the attainment of collaborative successes.
The Assembly further unveiled that the positions of first vice president and Second Vice President both went unopposed and thus President of Liberia Football Association Mr. Mustapha I. Raji was voted 1st Vice President while the President of Cape Verde Football Association Mr.Mario Semedo was voted 2nd Vice President.
The Union activity reports that encompass competitions, audit, finance, capacity building, and draft budget 2023/24 for its activities were all presented, deliberated on, and eventually approved.
