The Brikama Magistrates’ Court Monday ordered a certain Abdoulie Gano to swear to an affidavit of means, regarding D150,000 bail bond after the man for whom he served as surety failed to show up in court.
Gano was given the opportunity to find a surety that could guarantee his release following the absence of one Modou Darboe, who was alleged to have been found in possession of 949g of Cannabis Sativa at Kitty village in 2021.
Darboe was granted court bail but his no-show for Monday’s scheduled proceedings has caused his surety some legal nightmares.
Surety Gano has been ordered to secure a surety to guarantee his own liberty as Darboe’s case continues.
When the case was called for continuation on Monday, Gano told the court that the accused was at Pirang.
Magistrate Peter Adoh Che, therefore, ordered Gano to find a surety and swear to an affidavit of means, regarding the D150,000 bail granted to him.
The magistrate has already issued a bench warrant for the arrest and detention of the suspect until the determination of the case.
