The Inspector General of the Gambia Police Force, AbdoulieSanyang, has ordered his officers to intensify efforts in the mitigation and prevention of crimes in The Gambia.
Since the call, the police have made monumental achievements in the raids, arrests, and prosecutions of offenders for different crimes. These efforts were preceded by intelligence-led policing which identified criminal dens and hotspots in major areas around KMC and West Coast Region.
According to information from police headquarters, in a two-week operation of raiding and patrol led by AIG Operation, Landing Bojang, over 400 people allegedly involved in different offenses were arrested and screened for further police action.
Consequently, a total of 48 people, Gambians, and foreign nationals are remanded at Mile II for offenses of idle and disorderly behavior, and common nuisance while others were granted bail in the sum of D10,000 with surety.
As the patrol and raiding continue today, the team has apprehended a male adult, a suspected ex-convict in Brikama, who was found in possession of an amount of D34,600 believed to be stolen.
Police visited the house of the suspect where a cashbox, bicycle, and wheelbarrow were found. The suspect is currently cooperating with the police as they further investigate.
