The Chairman of Kerewan Area Council (KAC) has lauded NEA for providing the council with five tricycles to complementits waste collection efforts in Farafenni and Barra.
Speaking to The Voice in Farafenni recently, Chairman Tunkaraemphasized the importance of keeping markets clean and healthy and therefore, called on shop owners and vendors tomake the best use of dustbins at designated locations at the markets to facilitate waste collection.
He noted that the support received from NEA through UNDP would complement the council’s daily waste collectioninterventions in Farafenni and Barra.
Meanwhile, KAC has donated a 5000L water tank to Wellingaracommunity in Njaba Kunda Ward in Central Badibou. This was in response to the request made by the ward councilor Alagie B. Jaiteh following the damage to the community’s water tank.
Chairman Tunkara reiterated the council’s commitment to support and provide assistance to taxpayers with the view to improving their socioeconomic development and enhancingsocial protection.
Ward Councillor for Njaba Kunda, Alagie B. Jaiteh, thanked the council for the timely response, noting that water is essential tohealth.
Community leader Alh. Banoo Bah described the gesture as unprecedented, noting that the recent damage to the water tankhas affected the population as people trekked to find water.
