BAC Sworn in 7 interest group nominated Councilors

Brikama Area Council on Monday 21st August 2023, sworn in seven interest group nominated councillors with exception of two youth and disable persons representatives. 

The seven nominated councillors who were sworn to represent different interest groups of crucial sectors of development in the council are Councillors Bubacarr S Jammeh as business representative, Omar Darboe farmers representative, Fa Lalo Touray Chiefs representative, Sarjo Sanneh representative for the Women Gardeners and market vendors, Alhagie Bah Livestock Rrepresentative, Ramou Sabally womensrepresentative and Sheriffo Sonko as transport representative. 

Chairman of the Brikama Area Council, Mr. YankubaDarboe, during the swearing ceremony held at BAC office said the two left out nominated members were not sworn in as they are waiting for their confirmation from the local government ministry. 

“The confirmation should have happened before this ceremony today but unfortunately the nomination papers went a bit late on Friday and they were not able to deal with it. We are asking for patience on that one and hopefully we will do that as quickly as possible.”

Chairman Darboe welcomed the newly nominated councilors, saying he is looking forward to have fruitful and progressive working relations with them in moving West Coast Region forward. 

“We do not want your joining into the Council to undermined the unity of the Council, we urged all the elected Councilors to welcome the nominated councilorswith open arm to ensure that the BAC is able to serve the people of West Coast as expected of us,” he acknowledged. 

He stated that his Council is grateful that the newly nominated councilors have accepted the challenge to represent different interest groups under the BAC umbrella.
