By: Momodou Justice Darboe

United Democratic Party,  Aji Yam Secka said President Adama Barrow has forsaken his former comrades in the struggle against ex- President YahyaJammeh, adding that Mr. Barrow is currently “enjoying the blood” of Jammeh’s victims.

“Tell Barrow that victims are dying gradually. Jammehhas left but is now left with him. He never fulfilled any of the promises he made to the victims and may Allah recompense him,” Madam Secka stated as she spoke to The Voice on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the UDP today.

According to her, Barrow rode on the blood and sweat of Gambians to become President.

The UDP top official added:“He would’ve not become a President if Solo didn’t come out onto the street to agitate for electoral reforms on 14 April. He would’ve not occupied this seat had H.E Darboe not come out on 16th April. The 9th May Kalama Revolution…He forgot about the victims and each one of them is struggling with their lives.

“Adama Barrow, you are enjoying the blood of victims. May Allah reward you sufficiently for that. My words with you will not be compromised because I know what you and I have gone through. You forgot aboutthe victims but he who forgets yesterday is not good.”

UDP’s 27 Anniversary

On UDP’s 27th anniversary, Aji Yam stated: “Thank God because from 1996 to date is a long time. We went through a very rough road. Everyone has witnessedwhat the UDP endured. UDP is the party that took the pain. Some people recognize this but others don’t. But I know that every genuine Gambian knows that what happened to the UDP did not happen to any other partyin this country.”

She expressed gratitude for witnessing the party’s 27thanniversary.

“I thank Allah because I’ve been in the struggle for 27 years. I would like to seize this opportunity to extend gratitude to the party leader and Secretary General H.EDarboe. It wasn’t easy for him but he will never bow out because he has the interest of this country at heart. I would also like to express my gratitude to the entire executive. I thank you all because the road was tough. I would also like to thank the party’s surviving founding fathers like Kemeseng Jammeh, former deputy speaker Alhaji Modou Sanneh, Aji Sukaina Kah, YamundowYarboe and other longstanding members. LaminDarboe and Ebrima Dibba were all there. They never retreated and will never retreat.”

UDP Government

Aja Yam Secka also paid homage to UDP Yai Compinsand fallen comrades as she expressed the conviction UDP can unseat Barrow in 2026.

“We can turn things around in this country. We did it in 2016. Don’t forget that it’s the UDP that selected Adama Barrow before he joined the coalition. We made him the flagbearer. So, how we selected him and how we uprooted Jammeh is the same route we are going to take and form a government. And that’s not a distant prospect. God willing, 2026 is our government,” she asserted.
