Lamin Kijera, an alleged scammer pleaded not guilty to scamming over D1,600,750 from Saidina Cham to purchase an air ticket to Mexico for him.
He entered his please before Magistrate Omar Jabang of Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 28th August 2023.
Lamin Kijera sometime in June 2023 at Kairaba Avenue and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality with intent to defraud, obtained from Saidina Cham the sum of one million six hundred thousand seven hundred and fifty Dalasis (D 1,600,750) with the pretext that he will purchase Mexico air tickets, knowing or having reasonable believe such representation to be false.
However, police prosecutor ASP Amat Touray in his application for an adjournment did not object to the bail of Kijera, saying “Your Worship I am seeking for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to secure PW1 in the next adjourned date.”
The presiding magistrate Jabang in his discretion granted Kijeraa bail in sum of D1,700,000 with one Gambian surety who shall deposit a house document worth D1,700,000 with a valid national identity card and shall swear into an affidavit of mean.
Magistrate Jabang also said that the Sheriff Division shall confirm the existence of the surety’s house/property.
