Several parts of the Kanifing Municipality have been experiencing an acute shortage of canned Peak and Omela milk for several now.
Many provision and corner shops in the municipality are still struggling to bring back Peak and Omela on their shelves as the commodities have virtually run out of supply.
“It’s more than three months since I last sold Peak and Omela milk in my shop,” shopkeeper Cherno Omar Bah explained to The Voice.
“Peak and Omela are no longer imported into the country as they used to,” Momodou Bobo Jallowinformed The Voice.
“I saw the Peak and Omela milk scarcity coming but it’s only now that people have started to feel the impact of the shortage. These products have started dwindling some months ago but many people did not notice,” concerned consumer Karamo Manneh told The Voice.
Meanwhile, many consumers of Peak and Omela have now reverted to other types of milk that have newly entered the market.
