Lawyer Edward Gomez on Tuesday told the Brikama Magistrates’ Court that his client was implicated in drug- related offenses by a Mile II escapee.Musa Dahaba and Musa Bah have been jointly charged with two counts of possessing Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking.But yesterday, Counsel Gomez argued that Musa Dahaba was in fact not connected to the alleged offenses, saying Musa Bah
had escaped from Mile II and that Bah was the carrier of the drugs.
Counsel Gomez explained that the testimony of the first prosecution witness Modou Lamin Badjie revealed that Dahaba was at the time of the incident lying in a vehicle that had no number plate.
He also said that Badjie’s testimony confirmed that when DLEAG officers searched the vehicle of his client, Bah’s cell phone was found therein.
Defense counsel Gomez further argued that the phone belonged to Musa Bah.
He stated that Musa Bah took to his heels and left behind the multi-colored bag of Cannabis upon realizing the consequences of his action.
Counsel Gomez told the court that the DLEAG officers at the suspected crime scene have affirmed that Musa Bah “is a notorious criminal”.
He submitted that Musa Dahaba is now facing two-count charges of Cannabis possession despite him being charged alongside Musa Bah who, he said, was at large.
Meanwhile, the particulars of the offense of count one read that the duo on or about 13 October 2020, at Kabokorr in the West Coast Region, was found in possession of 27g and 900 milligrams of cannabis resin.
On count, the particulars of the offense state that the duo was found with 4 kg of Cannabis Sativa at the Kabokorr village in Foni.
