The Basse Area Council (BAC) has announced its readiness to roll out a ten-day community consultative meeting with the natives of the Upper River Region in the development of the new five-year strategic document of the council.
The council through a press release is targeting every native of URR both within and outside The Gambia for the weeklong consultation that will run from August 30 to September 9, 2023, through ward committees and other means possible.
“The purpose of this meeting is to gather input from residents and taxpayers on the development of a new strategic document that will address the needs of the community for the next five years,” the council said in a release.
The release continued that natives of URR in the diaspora and other parts of the country are equally provided with the opportunity to send in their contributions through the council’s official social media handles or email.
This according to the council is meant to promote inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in this development.
The release stated that the new strategic document will be used to guide the council’s decision-making process and ensure that it is responsive to the needs of the community believes that this process will help to develop a document that reflects the priorities of its residents and taxpayers from 2023 to 2028.
The Basse Area Council is the local government area of the Upper River Region headquarters in Basse Santa Su. The council has 14 wards across the region and it is mandated to administer the affairs of the people of URR.
Meanwhile, the council is encouraging the public, particularly natives to participate in this process in bringing forward an inclusive, credible, and independent document.
