CG Darboe Calls for Immediate Capacity Improvements To Address Increasing Demands on Port Facility

The Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority(GRA),Mr. Yankuba Darboe, has urged that the recommendations for immediate capacity improvements to address increasing demands on the Port facility will no doubt help to revive competitiveness, ensuring value and lower commodity costs. 

He made the statement at the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) and Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) consultative meetings with stakeholders in the port community seeking to draw direct inputs and feedback on port performance and service delivery at the Banjul port to boost customer satisfaction. 

The Thursday forum was meant to elicit their invaluable input and feedback on port performance and service delivery. The forum also drew participants from shipping agencies, importers, clearing and forwarding agencies, government agencies at the Port, and dockworkers.

According to organizers the consultative meeting with stakeholders in the port community seeks to draw direct inputs and feedback on port performance and service delivery at the Banjul port to boost customer satisfaction. 

Kebba Tamsir Gaye, Chairman of Gambia Port Authority Board of Directors, assured stakeholders that the recommendations advanced are well noted and will be taken on board in the collective bid to enhance the port’s potential as a strategic trading hub for the sub-region and beyond.

Multiple insights and feedback are necessary for improved service delivery and ultimate customer satisfaction were raised for consideration with stakeholders, individually and collectively, expressing concerns over services and recommendations to boost efficiency as we advance. 

The Management of Gambia Ports Authority expressed appreciation for recommendations proposed by stakeholders in the port community to improve Port operations and management. 

The day’s activities concluded with a tour of the port facility.
