The Social Development Fund (SDF) recently disbursed more than D9m loan to farmers’ associations in the North Bank and Lower River regions.
The objective is to help promote food production diversificationand respond to the food requirements of their communities.
SDF’s regional fund manager for NBR/LRR Seedy Seydescribed the agricultural loan as a success story in building farmers’ capacity to ensure timely planting.
Meanwhile, the North Bank Region has five groups drawn from five communities with a total cash disbursement of D7,421,000. Group Bokahol of Kerr Alagie Malick received D2, 492, 000, Munyagen VDC D1.8million, Yiribakoto Kafo of Yallal Ba of Lower Ba D1, 129,000, Jimbana Bolong Eco Zone in PakauNjogu D1million and Kerr Mama Women Group D1millionwhilst the VISACA group of Medina Sancha of Kiang Eastreceived D2m.
Mr. Sey noted that the loan scheme has been positively impacting the productive sector of the economy as well as promoting diversification.
