National Assembly Member for Banjul North Constituency, Hon Modou Lamin B. Bah, has disbursed D50,000 cash to over nine (9) football teams of all the qualified Banjul North Constituency Football Teams For “Banjul NAWETTAN”.

The 2nd Edition of the disbursement was done under the theme: “Support the Youth in Sport Now for a Brighter Future”.

During the presentation, Hon Bah expressed gratitude to all the beneficiary teams, saying this is a self-initiative-funded that he came up with to support the teams in Banjul North in shaping the way for their brighter future in sport.

“This is particularly something I did last year by supporting each team with football materials but this year I decided to give a cash amount of D5000 for support of the nine teams. I empower my young people because when I was campaigning as a National Assembly member I went to the people and sold my manifestation to them.

“Part of my manifesto talks about better representation. That’s addressing the needs and concerns of my people, and this initiative is one of the things in helping my people and I believe it will make great progress,” he stated.

Hon Bah also extolled his constituency in coordinating a planning committee to make the event successful, as the motive was to address their needs hence their football teams were encountering a lot of challenges. “I am very happy to help them with my hard-earned money,” he said

Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe, who presided over the presentation gave an inspirational statement and expressed gratitude to Hon Bah for the wonderful Initiative that he formed to assist the youth in the area of sport, saying this was not a surprise to her hence Hon Bah ultimate goal is to make sure that he serve his people and Bah is doing that rightly and respectfully.

Mayor Lowe, therefore, advised all the team members to make the best use of the opportunity while encouraging the NAMS of Banjul to have Banjul and the development of Banjul at heart.

Sherriff Camara, Artist and Founder of Keur Xaleh Yi Banjul, highlighted the challenges that the teams used to face in terms of support, noting that the cash given to each team will go a long way in shaping the sports field of Banjul Youths.
