Two DLEAG Directors Did Not Desert

By: Momodou Justice Darboe & Nyima Sillah

The Voice has confirmed that the directors of intelligence and forensics at the Drugs Law Enforcement Agency(DLEAG) are currently in the U.K. as part of their master’s degree programs contrary to the suggestion that they may have deserted the country’s anti-narcotics agency in the thick of sensitive investigations.

This medium can authoritatively report that intelligence director Lamin J. Gassama and forensics director DembaJammeh have not decamped nor did they abscond.

It was established by The Voice that Gassama traveled to the U.K. on 5 September 2023, to attend his graduation ceremony after he completed a master’s degree programwith distinction at the University of Buckingham while Jammeh is still there to pursue his one-year master’s degree program in Analytical Sciences (Drug Analysis and Toxicology) with the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeenin Scotland, U.K.

Former DLEAG operative Lamin F. M Badjie hinted to The Voice that intelligence director Gassama and forensics director Jammeh had left their positions at a time when investigations were progressing in the Brussels cocaine seizure. The cocaine reportedly transited through the Banjul International Airport sometime this year.

However, sources familiar with the investigations told this medium that Gassama and Jammeh were never part of the Brussels cocaine investigation.

Having checked the facts and knowing that Gassama and Jammeh did not decamp, this medium sincerely apologized to the two directors for the damage to their reputation and the embarrassment it caused them and their families.
