The Chairman of the Establishment Committee of Brikama Area Council(BAC) responsible for staff matters, MomodouCharreh Gibba, has dismissed as false the claim that the alleged murderer of two paramilitary officers was an employee of BAC.
The Gambia government spokesperson Ebrima G. Sankareh on Thursday told Coffee Time With Peter Gomez that Ousainou Bojang was a security guard at BAC.
Sankareh also alleged that Ousainou took part in the recent demonstration during the court hearing of Yankuba Darboe and ‘’his footage was traced’’.
But chairman Gibba on Thursday afternoon strongly rebutted the claim that the suspected assassin was a guard with the BAC.
‘’Ousainou is not an employee of BAC and he was never a staff of the Council,’’ Gibba stated.
Gibba, who is also the councilor for GunjurWard, said the claim that Ousainou was a security at BAC, was aimed at staining the name of the Council. He noted that “such an allegation” was an attempt to link the alleged gunman’s action to the council.
Gibba expressed the disappointment that some people have been peddling allegations against the council at the height of national mourning.
“As responsible people, we ought to be consultative and engage before any fake news is passed,” he advised.
