Groups of Fula Associations agitate for one Tabital Pulagu

By Binta Jaiteh

Fow-a-gottal, a Fula association in The Gambia in collaboration with 32 Fula associations across the country has called for Unity to have one national head called “Tabital Pulagu”.

The representatives of these associations aimed to have one national president/chairperson who would serve as TabitalPulagu both in the Gambia and around the globe; this would be in the interest of their people.

The groups urged the heads of the two main Tabital PulaguAssociations, Seedy Dem and Mamadu Madu to end an existing fraction between them and reconcile for the interest of their people and the nation.

Speaking during the press conference held at the Brikamaregional office on Saturday, Ali Ceesay, president of TabitalPulagu for Kombo North informed all Fulas in the Gambia and abroad that the fraction that already existed between the two main braces of Tabital Pulagu association is of no interest to the members and the nation.

He therefore called on all those with capacities and ideas to collaborate so that they can end the fractions and have one main and national head of the “Tabital Pulagu” Association who will serve the best interest of the people.

However, reconciliation is not possible unless and until MamaduMadu and Seedy Dem come back and comply with the main association that initiated “Tabital Pulagu” in the Gambia and the people.

Dawda Loum, the Secretary General of Fulbeh Gambia Fow-a-gottal, said “We need a leader who will wipe our tears but not someone who pinches us.”

As the two heads’ terms already ended, Loum said “We want that during the congress, independent cards to be prepared by an independent body to ensure transparency during elections,” he appealed.

Alpha Ousman Jallow and Ahmad Muctar Jallow, secretary general of Endam Fulbeh Africa noted that unity and peaceful coexistence should be encouraged and maintained among them, as they can only achieve their set goals through one voice.

Ahmad Muctar Jallow said it is part of Endam Fulbeh Africa’s principles to ensure that all Fulas become one family with no fractions.

Biggie Bah, Founder of Ngottau Fulbe Gambia, spoke on the importance of making the Fulani people unite under one umbrella in the Gambia hence the term of the current executive has come to an end.

Mr Falou Bah, Head of another Fula group, called on both leaders from the different Tabital Pulaaku to forget about all differences for the interest of the tribe and the young generation.

He, therefore, urged Mr. Seedy Dem to answer their calls for standing for the Fula community and vie for a leadership position. He said they advocate unity among themselves.

Mr Ahmed MuctarrJallow, an Executive member of ‘NgottaguFulbe’ Gambia, expressed joy over joining such an important gathering.

Noting that there are many Fula associations and there is a need to come together under one umbrella.

Notwithstanding, he called on others to look for the interests of the Fula community instead of their personal interests.
