ActionAid International-Gambia Spends Over D180m in 2022-Haddy Dandeh-Jabbie

By Mama A. Touray

ActionAid The Gambia has spent D180m in 2022, revealed board chair Haddy Dandeh-Jabbie.

She made this revelation at the annual general meeting of the NGO on Saturday.

“The year 2022 ended with an activity completion rate of over 90% of the planned activities, reaching over twenty thousand people living in poverty in the Local Rights Programmeas well as other parts of the country with a total expenditure of over D180 million,” the board chair disclosed.

She lamented that ActionAid International TheGambia experienced a high staff attrition rate during the year under review, reporting that 2023 started with the completion of the recruitment of the executive director that began the previous year.

“During the period under review, ActionAid International The Gambia experienced a high staff attrition rate; the departure of the Head of Programs and Policy, Internal Audit Manager, M&E Coordinator and few other staff in the Finance Department within the same period. However, the efforts of management are hailed in ensuring that replacements were recruited within the shortest possible time,” Mrs. Jabbiesaid.

The board chair also reported that she alongside the executive director and the senior accountant attended the directors’ forum and heads of finance meeting and the annual general meeting in Kenya in June 2023. These meetings, according to her, provided platforms for the review and approval of crucial motions by the general assembly on behalf of the federation members. Madam Jabbie explained that during the meeting, emphasis was laid on the need to strengthen women’s rights and the feminist leadership approach across the federation, rooted campaigning strategies, and the growth of income through institutional partnership funding.

“The meeting also started the building blocks for the development of the new resource management framework by the global leadership team in consultation with federation members and is expected to be completed and submitted to the general council for approval at the next annual general meeting in 2024,” she added.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Dandeh-Jabbi thanked the retirees for their “endless service” to ActionAid, adding that they will forever be remembered for their tireless dedication to serving ActionAid.

The annual general meeting, held at ActionAid International The Gambia Head Office in Kanifing, was also used to award certificates to seven retired staff of ActionAid International for several years of dedicated service to the NGO
