Bensouda Says Barrow’s Tirade AgainstDarboe Unfortunate

By: Momodou Justice Darboe

The Mayor of KMC, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, has accused President Adama Barrow of launching a personal attack against Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, describing the development as unfortunate.  Mayor Bensouda further accused Mr. Barrow of sidestepping issues of national concerns such as insecurity, inflation, infrastructural deficit, water and electricity woes, unemployment, and chronic energy problems to launch a tirade against Mr. Darboe.

“The Gambia is one of the poorest places on earth with chronic poverty, skyrocketing inflation, lacking basic infrastructure, healthcare, and poor water and electricity supply with thousands of our unemployed youth, seeking refuge in Europe through a dangerous journey. To make matters worse, we face escalating internal insecurity; most recently, two of our gallant police officers were murdered in cold blood,” Bensouda wrote on his Facebook page.

“Amidst these challenges, our president, who has called for national unity many times in the same year, instead chooses one of his rare public appearances to unleash hate speech and personal insults against the person of Lawyer OusainuDarboe. As leaders, we must do better! Let’s work for the people and stop it. Very disappointed,” he lamented.

It would be recalled that Present Adama over the weekend launched diatribes against the UDP secretary-general as he addressed supporters during the launch of the NPP bureau in Bansang on Friday. The same vitriolic attacks were repeated in Barrow’s village of Mankamang Kunda.
