Opposition MP Madi Ceesay has insisted that questions around the whereabouts of monies generated from the sale of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets will continue to arise, adding that it will take only “a serious” government to establish where the monies had gone.
The Serekunda West parliamentarian in an interview with The Voice asserted that his colleagues in the legislature would continue to follow the money from the sale of Jammeh’sproperty.
He pointed out that deputies have yet to get the full picture as regards the money from the sales of Jammeh’s Potomac house and other assets recommended for sale by the JannehCommission established to probe the financial dealings of the former President and his associates.
Ceesay also spoke about the keenness of parliamentarians to know the identities of the buyers of the property of the former president.
It could be recalled that the National Assembly recently issued a resolution to the Office of the Attorney General to provide the Auditor General and the House’s Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) relevant documents, including the JannehCommission’s treasury receipts amounting to D22, 319,957.92and other information pertaining to the sale of the assets of the ex-president.
